A little more about me:
I’m 28 years old. I’ve lived in Washington County all my life — in Smithsburg until I was 7, when my family moved to Hagerstown, right next to Potomac Heights Elementary, which I had as my backyard for 12 years and is a large reason why I’m a sportswriter. I grew up playing on the school’s fields, playing football, soccer, baseball, basketball, kickball, whiffleball and any other sport you can come up with that has “ball” in it. I graduated from Potomac Heights in 1991, Northern Middle in 1994 and North Hagerstown High in 1998.
If I wasn’t writing about sports — or involved in some other profession including sports — I’d most likely be doing something musical. I was a part of school choirs all through my middle school and high school days, and I’m pretty proud of my time with North High’s various groups under director Curt Shetler, in which I traveled to Orlando and Washington, D.C., for competitions as well as various Tri-State locations. In 1998 I was selected for Maryland’s All-State Senior Chorus.
I consider myself blessed in so many ways. There are way too many members of my family that I will never be able to repay for what they’ve given me. I make good money at a job I enjoy, and I work with a great group of people who keep the job fun … and in the case of Bob Parasiliti, funny.
If you’ve made it to this point, thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the blog.
